Assignment 6: Privacy

For google-blogger, our blog is public by default. If we want to keep it private, we can linit the people who view our blog by choosing people who we invite.

For g-mail, the privacy settings allows you to set a password and adds more security by allowing you to have access to your phone. If someone steals or guesses your password, that person won't be able to sign in because they won't have your phone.

Pin-interest is public but you can modify your privacy settings if you want to disconnect from your Facebook account or Twitter account. Since pin-interest is public you want to make sure you don't add too much personal information, like your username, gender, don't tell too much about yourself, where you live, and the images you put up of yourself.

For blackboard, since it is school based, has the privacy settings of having your account made public to your institution, private so only classmates can see, or being hidden in which no one can see. Blackboard is way of teachers and students to talk to each other because there are laws that teaachers have that they cannot communicate with students using their real email address.

The differences in the settings are the way they each have a different way of securing people's privacy. For g-mail, they have categorized there pages to make sure other people don't have access to your account. If the site is public, you can modify it to make it more private to you, by not adding too much personal information, and having information that only your friends can see. The more people that know and own and an account, the more likely the company will do their best to provide more and better way of people's privacy. I think g-mail has the best privacy settings and pin-interest has the worst. If the site is public, then I don't feel as secure, but I don't put too much of my personal information online.
